Relocating yet again

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

As you read this we should be busily packing for our summer trip to France which, all being well, will be our last major trip to that particular spot.

Why “all being well”? Surely it’s great to be going to France on holiday? Well, it is but we’re in the process of selling our French property (or trying to anyway) so this should be the last time that we spend any significant period in it.

We’ll miss it, but at the moment all the travel just seems like such a hassle.

How do popular posts come about?

June 23rd, 2009

I run a number of blogs and the most popular post over time that each has is always a complete surprise.

For example, for this blog it’s a very short article on cross tattoos. Why cross tattoos? The entry itself was written back in 2007 and it’s the only one on tattoos on the site at the moment so it’s not as if I’ve been concentrating on writing about them and thus gained a following that way. What happened is that the photo on that post was picked up by google and bing and seems to be quite a popular one which just goes to show that a little effort put into selecting an image for a post is always worthwhile.

That doesn’t really explain why that post is so popular though. Despite this being what I’d call one of my lesser blogs, it currently gets around half the hits for that single post as all of the posts together get for my most popular blog!

So how the popular posts come about remains something of a mystery.

Do you aim to fill your day or are you just pottering through life?

June 18th, 2009

One of the strange facts of life is that the best person to ask to do a task isn’t the one who has the least to do but is the one who has the most to do.

Whilst I’m sure that it’s one of those “within reason” facts, do you want to be the kind of person who has a massive list of achievements for someone to talk about at their funeral or would you rather be one of those people who seems to have done nothing with their life? I don’t mean that you need to fill your life with work activities or the like for it’s just as valid to fill it with looking after your children or grandchildren but rather that you should consider whether to take the full life approach or the empty life approach.

Which type of person would you like to be remembered as?
