Sort-of operational blog

Friday, February 29th, 2008

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

A while back I moved this blog from our too expensive hosting to a much cheaper one and it’s still not fully operational.

I thought it was as I did a few test posts and everything seemed fine until I tried to post something with a link in it which just wouldn’t post at all. Nothing on the Wordpress support forum about it so I’m still fumbling about in the dark at the moment trying one thing or another.

The rise of the little guy in mainstream publishing

Friday, February 29th, 2008

OK, so we all say that blogs are just as important as mainstream publishing but realistically nobody believes that, do they?

Funnily enough, some of the mainstream news sources do. The lead article throughout the day after the resignation speech by President Chirac of France on the 24 hour news station France24 (France’s response to CNN) was an article I wrote for one of my blogs. More recently, I was a little confused by reuters.com appearing on the stats of the same blog and it seems that I’ve had over 100,000 readers via Reuters for the same blog in the last week alone.

So whilst we may not always think of the blog as having an influence clearly some quite heavy hitters in the mainstream media are starting to do just that.
