How do you promote a website quickly?
If you have the money, the in-thing these days seems to be by way of paid posts. This, of course, suits me no end as it provides me with a nice stream of income. Presumably it’s cost-effective in that some major players are doing it but I’m not so sure that it’s viable for small-scale websites.
For much less money, you can go to one of the manual submission services. For about $30 they’ll submit your site to around 200 directories and it’s a good quick way to get your site indexed quite widely. Thoroughly recommended to get new sites off the ground quickly.
However, by far the best way is simply to have original content. Our Whole Earth Guide had over 700 links within a month of being launched yet was only mentioned a few times in our own blogs.
